Gout is generally referred as acute inflammatory- arthritis leading to a red, tender, hot and swollen joint. Gout is a metabolic disorder which prevents our body from breaking down uric acid. The uric acid then builds up in the form of acid crystals. These crystals form partly because of the foods we eat and toxins also created by our own bodies during the metabolism of food.

Cause

Uric acid is a waste product. It comes from the breakdown of purines, naturally-occurring chemicals that are found in both our diets and our bodies. Particular foods and and beverages can contribute greatly to hyperuricemia and gout including: red meat, seafood, beer, liquor, and artificial sugars found in processed foods.
Uric acid crystals can form within the body from unusually high levels of uric acid in the blood. Uric acid is one of the final products in the protein breakdown of purines from foods. The body normally gets rid of excess circulating uric acid through urine excretion. However, some people develop hyperuricemia, where they retain high levels of uric acid that can crystallize.
